The quality of our mind is worth everything.
Though we have similar assets, we all experience the world differently. Even if we use similar starting points, we wander different paths. With mindfulness, by using a single practice, we can all attune, train and take care of what happens inside our mental space. We train our consciousness and our awareness thereof.
Inspired by Diana Winston's "The Spectrum of Awareness" series.. Osman Akin (1989) invites you to use the works in the SPECTRUM collection as an anchor or guide during your meditations or as a moment to reflect during your day-to-day activities.
This collection is a follow-up on OWA’s collaborative effort called SPACES, which was about transitions between the physical realm and that of mental space.
The SPECTRUM collection expands on different mental spaces; each piece represents a different approach or aspect of awareness.
"The aim with these paintings is to trigger moments in which the viewer reflects on themselves, where they are (now) and how they feel.
Over time, and by asking others to look along, they'll notice how their awareness of these paintings changes of time. Much like the awareness of our consciousness, these works adapt along."
Wiebren Altena is diligent in (re)shaping anything and in bringing its essence forward. His touch is resolute yet serene, unifying and makes you savour balanced forms of purity.
Osman Akin seeks playful systematics and fanatic chaoticism. In his approach he seeks the rewards of coincidenses through ruthless experimentation.
